Discover the Christmas Tree Displays in Paris
Throughout December, Paris is filled with Christmas decoration and celebration. But one of the most traditional and unique aspects of the famous city’s festivities is its Christmas trees.
The French capital erects thousands across its streets every year, and this time round has seen one of the most impressive displays yet. With cheap flights to Paris now in regular supply, you should look in to seeing the city at this time of the year for yourself.
Hundreds of Trees
The Ministry of Parks organises the unique spectacle, which dates its beginnings back to the 19th Century. Exactly 270 trees will be placed at the roundabout of the Champs-Elysees, 180 at the Place de la Bastille, and a score are given to the barges of the Seine to herald in a charity celebration for the underprivileged.
Many trees are also given to the lesser known parts of Paris, including some of its quiet suburbs and boulevards.
The decoration that takes over Paris at this time of the year makes it one of the most exciting cities in the world to celebrate Christmas, and one of the best aspects of its existence is the ethical way in which it is done. The trees used for the event are grown in nurseries exclusively for Paris, meaning the country’s forests aren’t being destroyed in order to fuel it.
